Lightning splinters the sky
just like two years ago,
when you told me your secret,
how it cracked you into pieces
just like lightning.
And I am beginning to understand
how life is shocking and jagged,
just like lightning.
I ran out into the rain tonight,
reminded of three years ago
how we were as free and
as unbridled as lightning.
You were my storm.
